What if data visualisation was part of your brand’s DNA?
As McKinsey evolved, so did its brand. Guided by Wolff Olins and OPX’s concept of “high contrast” to express change that matters, we partnered with Signal Noise to lead the data visualisation rebrand — shaping not just charts, but a new culture of clarity and intelligence.
The Challenge
The challenge was scale: thousands of outputs across decks, reports, and dashboards had to look consistent, credible, and unmistakably McKinsey. Through stakeholder interviews we uncovered needs, constraints, and tools in use, then designed a living system adaptable across platforms and touchpoints.
The Solution
Working closely with the brand agencies, we translated McKinsey’s new visual language into a coherent dataviz system. The outcome was more than guidelines: it was a set of smart templates and flows that made adoption seamless across formats and teams.
The Impact
The rebrand went beyond formatting, embedding design thinking into how McKinsey communicates insight at scale. It aligned the firm’s heritage of deep analysis with a modern visual style — saving time, strengthening consistency, and earning international recognition.
